Air fryer Potato slices

Air Fryer Potato Slices

Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these Air Fryer Potato Slices are a simple and tasty side dish. You can enjoy them with just salt and oil or try different seasonings for extra flavour.

Why Use an Air Fryer Instead of an Oven?

  • Air fryers cook food faster than regular ovens, which saves time and energy.

  • They are smaller, so they use less power and heat up more quickly.

  • Great for busy people or families who want quick meals.

Best Potatoes to Use

For crispy slices, use the same kind of potatoes you would for chips (fries):

  • UK options: Maris Piper, King Edward

  • Good all-rounders: Estima, Melody, Marfona

  • US option: Yukon Gold

  • You can also use new potatoes—just slice them thinner so they cook faster.

To Peel or Not to Peel?

It’s totally up to you!

  • Leaving the skin on saves time and adds flavour.

  • If you peel them, keep the peelings to make Air Fryer Potato Peel Crisps.

 How to Cut the Potatoes

  • Slice the potatoes about 0.5 cm thick.

  • Thinner slices cook quicker and become crispier.

  • Watch them closely—thin slices can burn fast!

 Add More Flavours

Start simple with just oil and salt, then try these seasoning ideas:

  • Garlic

  • Herby potato seasoning

  • Cajun

  • Peri Peri

  • Salt & Pepper (Chinese style)

  • Light spices

How Many Slices Can You Cook?

  • It depends on the size of your air fryer.

  • These slices take up more space than other potato recipes, so don’t overcrowd.

  • If using a small fryer, cook in batches, then heat them all together at the end.

  • Toss the slices during cooking so they don’t stick together.

Do You Need to Preheat the Air Fryer?

  • Some air fryers need preheating, some don’t.

  • If yours does, check the potatoes a few minutes early. Hot air fryers cook faster.

Can You Use an Air Fryer Liner?

  • Yes, but liners may stop your slices from getting crispy.

  • They’re easier to clean though, so use them only if needed.

Serve Air Fryer Potato Slices instead of chips/fries with your favourite meals.
