Ingredients

  • Shrimp: 1 pound, peeled and deveined
  • Creole Seasoning: 2 tablespoons (divided)
  • Butter: 3 tablespoons, unsalted
  • Onion: 1 large, finely chopped
  • Bell Pepper: 1 green, finely chopped
  • Celery: 3 stalks, finely chopped
  • Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
  • Flour: 1/4 cup, all-purpose
  • Stock: 3 cups shrimp stock or chicken stock
  • Worcestershire Sauce: 1 teaspoon
  • Hot Sauce: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt and Pepper: To taste
  • Green Onions: 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Parsley: 2 tablespoons, fresh, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the Shrimp: In a bowl, toss the shrimp with 1 tablespoon of Creole seasoning.
  2. Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Make the Roux: Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir to combine. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, to create a roux.
  4. Add the Stock: Gradually pour in the stock, stirring constantly to prevent lumps and maintain a smooth consistency. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Simmer the Sauce: Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of Creole seasoning. Simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through.
  7. Season and Serve: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the green onions and parsley just before serving
